Dana Pomykal Franz is professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education and also Director of Academic Quality in the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Mississippi State University. Franz is involved in the preparation of future secondary mathematics teachers as well as with graduate students seeking leadership roles in mathematics education. She works with programs across the university to set instructional goals for degrees as well as help these programs establish continuous improvement processes. Franz has served as PI or Co-PI on multiple grants designed to improve mathematics teacher education and has an established record of collaboration across multiple institutions, including the Mathematics Teacher Education Partnership Leadership Team and as a member of the team establishing a research agenda for Middle Level education. Franz has a record of research in mathematics teacher education and teacher shortages in rural, high-needs schools.
