Devon Brenner directs the Social Science Research Center at Mississippi State University and is a professor in the department of Teacher Education and Leadership. She helped direct the federally funded Teacher Education for Rural Mississippi Transition to Teaching program, which supported teacher certification for middle school teachers for rural middle schools in Mississippi. Brenner’s scholarship focuses on rural education policy and practice and rural and literacy teacher education. She is coauthor of Teaching in Rural Places: Thriving in Classroom, Schools, and Communities and co-editor of The Rural Educator, journal of the National Rural Education Association. Brenner currently serves as PI for the NSF Track 4 research grant, Teacher Preparation for Rural STEM Teacher Preparation and Retention.
