Devon Brenner, Ph.D.

Devon Brenner, Ph.D.
Professor of Teacher Education, Assistant Vice President for Outreach and Initiatives
Mississippi State University

Devon Brenner is Assistant Vice President for Outreach and Initiatives in the Office of Research and Economic Development, professor of teacher education, and interim director of the Social Science Research Center at Mississippi State University. She helped direct the federally funded Teacher Education for Rural Mississippi Transition to Teaching program, which supported teacher certification for middle school teachers for rural middle schools in Mississippi. Brenner’s scholarship focuses on rural education policy and practice and rural and literacy teacher education. She is coauthor of Teaching in Rural Places: Thriving in Classroom, Schools, and Communities and co-editor of The Rural Educator, journal of the National Rural Education Association.  Brenner currently serves as PI for the Teacher Preparation for Rural STEM Teacher Preparation and Retention NSF Noyce Track 4 Collaborative Research grant.
