Elaine Howes, a faculty member in education in the American Museum of Natural History’s Master of Arts in Teaching Earth Science Residency Program, co-teaches courses in curriculum and instruction and in foundations of education. Her current research examines how teacher education programs support new teachers in learning to teach in culturally responsive ways, and how teachers use what they learn to inform their science teaching in high-need schools.
