Investigating Culturally Responsive Science Teaching

September 10, 2026 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

View Archived Webinar

AMNH are in the final year of a Track 4 project exploring culturally responsive teaching in Noyce graduates’ classrooms. In this workshop, we will present findings from a cross-case study of ten teacher case studies in varied settings (urban, rural, and suburban; north and south) and science content areas. Following the cross-case analysis procedure used for multiple case study analysis suggested by Stake (2006), we examined ten teacher case studies focused on descriptions of teachers’ enactments of their science teaching. These cases are designed to offer concrete images of culturally responsive science teaching that consider the community context of students and their lived experiences, along with case study teachers’ visions of culturally responsive and effective science teaching. This session will be highly interactive involving presentations of learning from the study, breakout room and whole group discussions. Discussions will be used to inform further explication of the themes and writing.
